About

I lead IT delivery for DBS Bank's cards, payments and unsecured lending platforms, across India, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan — the newest chapter of twenty-two years in banking technology. I started on mainframe card-processing systems in India, then spent close to a decade onsite in Dallas and the UK shipping VisionPLUS platforms, including a $14M+ programme delivered ahead of schedule. Somewhere in there I learned that "this cannot go down" isn't a slogan, and that a team stays together because of how it's led, not just what it ships — the platform I built at DBS grew from 39 people to a peak of 150+ at 98% engagement, zero attrition.

Then, in March 2026, everything else started. I'd been curious about AI for a while, and one evening — on a phone, in a hospital room, no laptop anywhere nearby — I pulled down a self-hosted AI agent stack just to see what would happen. There was no plan behind it. I just wanted to know if the thing I'd been reading about actually worked the way people said it did.

Six months later I'd built and shipped twenty-six products. I'd never touched Flask, or Kotlin, or fine-tuned a model, or written a line of OpenAPI before this year. All of it got learned on evenings and weekends, on top of a delivery job that never slowed down to let me practice.

Somewhere in the middle of that, my day job changed too. I'm part of DBS's AI governance team now, and I own AI delivery governance for my own platform — the rules that decide how generative AI actually gets used in regulated delivery, not just whether it's allowed.

I work through the same rules I hit the walls of myself, at 11pm, trying to get a model to behave.

On AI governance

So that's the honest version of what I do. I lead a 20+ person delivery team directly, with indirect responsibility across a platform of 70+, spanning four markets, by day — and most evenings you'll still find me building something. I'm not doing it to look busy. I do it because once I've pulled at a thread, I genuinely can't leave it alone.

About fifteen years working up from developer to senior manager, mostly on VisionPLUS card platforms for AAFES. Around nine of those years onsite in Dallas across two stretches — 2007–2012, then 2014–2018 — plus a shorter assignment in the UK in 2013, building a process that took 40% out of delivery lead time.
